Re: Thank You

Hey, I know I already said this in the email, but really... thanks for getting me up and out there helping out Tami. =) Felt really good, even though the lazy part of me wanted to sleep in, stay home and play video games all day. It really was amazing to see what we all managed to do over such a span of time. Standing there, looking down along the stretch behind those houses and seeing so many people working and laughing was just a great feeling. I've never had a chance to do something like this though my workplace before, and not even that! But I did it NEXT to the people higher up on the totem pole. It's a wonderful feeling to hand a rock to someone with a cool title and have them crack jokes at you. Or, dance...

I'm going to sleep amazingly tonight, and not just because of my sore muscles. (I can't say this enough, that sledgehammer? So much fun!) This project is something that's going to stick around and be used to make a difference in people's lives and in the city itself. That mural is going to be there for years. The space we cleared is going to have chickens and fresh food growing out of it! (Well, maybe not the chickens so much...) Talk about the power of humanity as a task force, and not just a conversation starter, huh?

It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. Though, I shouldn't have been surprised. I forgot where I was going for awhile there, and actually had a moment of shyness in something as simple as asking 'Hey, can I swing that Sledgehammer boys?' (see, I told you it was a big deal!) Everyone was really nice and hardworking, a blast to hang out with and talk to. I really felt like a part of something larger, not just inside Starbucks but my own community as well.

So, thanks again Tami. I feel like a better human being, and I plan on doing more of these things, even if it's just on my own time.

I hope you get to sleep in tomorrow. You deserve it, and I'm proud to have you around. If you'll let me, I owe you a hug next time I get to see you in store. =)
