We will celebrate this year's Earth Day by joining hundreds of volunteers who will clean up at over 500 sites in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and West Virginia - all part of the lands, or watershed, that drain into the Potomac. Locations include all sites, where the trash can be removed before it enters creeks and other waterways. The Potomac River makes up 80% of the metro area's drinking water and is a tremendous source of recreation. The water pollution from trash and debris has a negative effect on many aspects of life throughout the area. That is why we will be cleaning the area at Lock #8, between miles 8 through 10.
