Description of volunteer effort:
Help improve the Capitol Hill Playground! The Capitol Hill Elementary School playground, in Southwest Portland, is nearly 2 acres of blacktop. Depave and the school community are going to change this with the removal of 3,500 square feet of asphalt to make way for a soft-surface play area with native trees and plants, a story circle, and new play equipment. We need your help - please join us in making the playground a better space to play. Volunteers of all ages are welcome! Depave will provide volunteers with all the necessary tools, safety gear, and water. Snacks and coffee will be provided as well. Due to the physical nature of asphalt removal, volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, as well as clothing appropriate for the weather.This event is made possible by a partnership with: Depave, Portland Public Schools, Capitol Hill PTA, and the West Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation Dist.For more info, visit Depave at www.depave.org
