Description of volunteer effort:

Families Walk for Hope raises funds for John T. Mather Hospital's Fortunato Breast Health Center, which was created in response to the concerns of the women of Long Island to provide state-of-the-art breast healthcare in surroundings that offer a sense of comfort, privacy, and the assurance that each patient's individual needs will be met. The Center is one of the largest breast cancer centers on Long Island and its exceptional care earned the Center a three-year, full accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. The Fortunato Breast Health Center is one of only seven in New York State and three on Long Island to earn this distinction and is supported by funds raised through the Families Walk for Hope.
