Starbucks Community Service : Discussion List - Relay for Life Rockville 2012

$8,821 raised (so far)... We are the best in the whole company!

It is so exciting!

I just dropped a few checks from our last event (Relay for Life on June 2nd) and after waiting a little bit I noticed that they have been entered. All we are waiting for are the amounts for our Silent Auction - all of our items sold so there will be more added. Also, there will be a little more from our scrap metal sales and Coffee Bags fundraising. However, the news are fantastic!

With $8,821 at this moment (June 12th 2012 @ 3 p.m.) we are the #1 Relay for Life team in the company nationwide! I think it is really awesome how many of us made this happen by organizing many fundraising events, participating in them and coming to the final celebration on June 2nd at the Rockville High School.

Thanks so much to all those who came to Relay for Life Rockville 2012 to support our team Starbucks Cares! We had a fantastic participation: 45 participants toal, 22 partners from 9 stores (including one DM, one partner from Bethesda Raegional Office and one partner from our York Roasting Plant!) and 4 ex-partners.

We had a nice weather (even though it was so cold and damp in the night!) and we raised a little over $300 throughout the event! We walked a lot of laps in memory or honor of all cancer patients and I was pleased by the participation and fundraising during the whole event.

I hope everyone is excited! We have our last event today (Zarath's Zumbathon) and tomorrow it is it! Please come in a good mood, let's not have the weather (whatever it will be) take our intentions and fantastic spirit away.

Some of us will be at the site (Rockville High School) at around 12:30 p.m. to set up the tents, tables and all that, any volunteers are welcome!

I'll see you there (bring some "farmers' hats and sunscreen and good walking shoes!

This is the camp site map at Rockville High School. We still don't know where we will be but our team is easy to find - just look for our banner that has the Starbucks logo on it. You will see a bunch of people running around in T-shirts with Starbucks logo.

If you are coming to support our team on Saturday June 2nd (and/or Sunday June 3rd) please quickly review this information. It tells you what to bring with you and what not to bring, there are all events listed that happen during the day as well as the schedule of the official parts (opening, Luminaria Ceremony, closing...)

Please make sure thay you bring a long sleeve clothes and long pants if you want to stay overnight. Sometimes it gets a little bit cold.

We met our goal yesterday and today we are at $5,513!!!

That is fantastic and we keep going:

- Tomorrow we have Jail and Bail with Tracy and her team at Firstfield;

- On Thursday we wil have a party at Flower Hill and make Luminarias;

- On June 1st Zarath from Cabin John organizes a big Zumbathon!

We have special Starbucks Relay for Life T-shirts!

Hi everyone! I just got fantastic Relay for Life T-shirts for everyone who comes to support our team in June! It is white, has a big Starbucks logo on the front and Relay for Life logo on the back. Everyone who walks for us will get a T-shirt. So far we have 27 people signed up but we need more (I ordered enough!). Even if you come for an hour or two, it helps.

Little by little... we are getting there... to reach our goal of $5,000. I am confident that this year we beat this goal! What do you think?

- we have our first "scrap metal" pick up tomorrow (Wednesday, April 25th)

- we have a big bakesale on Saturday - check out Patty's project (she needs some help) with the raffle

- next week we start our Jail-and-Bail projects in several of our stores (anyone who needs help let me know please)

- the coffee bags keep coming (keep doing what you are doing)

- a big sneakers collection starts this Saturday!

- a HUGE Zumba-thon happening on Friday, June 1st (5 - 7p.m.) - details follow!

So I think that we are doing fantastic and One day we will find a cure and live lives without cancer!

Isn't this fantastic? We rock and we keep going! We are the second team in Rockville Relay, let's change it and have those "Jail-and-Bail" events in our stores! We can raise a lot of money that way (and have some fun at the same time!

Remember to request a partner match!

Hi everyone, just a little (actually a pretty big and important) reminder:

make sure that you take 10 minutes of your time and request a partner match. Starbucks matches all our personal monetary contributions and the money goes to our Relay team!

It is very easy:

- open your profile on the Community website

- in the column on the right (on the top) there is "request a partner match..." - click on that

- fill the needed information

- make sure that you chose right American Cancer Society:

- also, there is a space where you need to specify that your matching gift needs to go to to Starbucks Cares! Relay for life Rockville MD

- after you submit the application, please print the receipt for non-profit organization first and then click submit to non-profit organization

- I need the printed part (just in case I have to verify with the American Cancer Society) for my Team captains meeting.

It really sounds more complicated than it is, if you need help let me know please.

They approve these only once every quarter so please act now to male sure that the money is donated to our team on time!
