Enjoy a morning at the shore for the Adopt-a-Beach event on Saturday, April 30 from 9am-12pm, rain or shine. This all-volunteer effort removes trash and debris from 200 miles of Texas beaches. Bay Area volunteers can register to spruce up coastlines and bayous in Harris, Galveston or Brazoria counties. Initiated by the Texas General Land Office, the project emphasizes the importance of preventing both land- and ocean-based litter. Keeping Texas beaches clean is an economic and environmental priority as industries such as the $7 billion coastal tourism sector demand clean beaches and a healthy coast.
