In their current production of 1776, volunteers are involved in all aspects of putting on this musical, including acting, singing, set building, costuming, props, as well as ticket sales, ushering and concessions. A local commmunity theatre, Spring Lake Theatre Company produces six shows a year almost exclusively through the efforts of volunteers. Since 1978, the theatre company has offered area audiences quality theatrical experiences while at the same time giving back to the local community. Opening night ticket sales from each production are donated to different, well-deserving local charity.The recent production of Scrooge for example, raised proceeds for the Community House Christmas Fund which brought new toys and clothing to area families who otherwise would not have had anything under the tree Christmas morning. Over 200 local families in Monmouth and Ocean counties were assisted this year alone. Performances are April 20, 21, 27, 28, and May 4, 5, 11, and 12 at 8:00 PM.
