Description of volunteer effort:

The Food Project needs our help doing field work at their Beverly location! We will be planting, transplanting, and preparing vegetable and flower beds.  We will be working with dirt so be prepared! Bring gloves, a hat, & sunscreen, and wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.  It's going to be an exciting day out in the sunshine!

 

Who: The final participant count will be given to The Food Project on 4/11/2012List your name and any “+’s” NOW!  Kids 12+ welcome (with parents).  You MUST also go to http://thefoodproject.org/participant-registration or you will not be allowed to participate! 

When: April 26th, arrive at 9:15 for a 9:30 start.

Where: The Food Project’s Beverly Farm, 572 Essex Street in Beverly, MA.

What to wear: You must wear closed-toe shoes. Dress appropriately for farm work and the weather, layers recommended.

What to bring: Please bring a water bottle. If you prefer working with gloves, you should bring those too.

What you'll be doing: You will participate in educational games, a discussion about the food system; cultivate and maintain the land; plant, tend, or harvest fresh vegetables; have fun outside; and make a difference for those who lack healthy affordable food in the Greater Boston area.  More information: http://thefoodproject.org/volunteer-faq

Weather: We work rain or shine. Under severe weather conditions, our farm staff will call you to cancel. If you are concerned about the weather, you can call our farm staff after 7:00 AM.
