Have you done anything to conserve water?

I have removed the 1500 sq. ft. of grass from my back yard (that I paid $2000 to have put in 4 years ago) and replaced with rocks. I was feeling so apathetic and irresponsible lioving in the desert and having a lawn!

Next to go will be the pool...2-300 gallons a week in evaporated water and then there is the "splash out". Gonna make it a skate park for the kiddos.

Hey Dustin,  Yes we all need to save waters!!!  Unfortunately, I have a small swimming pool.   Anyway,  I have always installed the kitchen faucet switch that you can turn it off and on while its on by doing the dishes or anything to prevent waste running water.  My front and back yards are covered with rocks except in the back side/small yard with grass for my 4 dogs.

Hey Dustin, I removed several plants from my backyard for the same reason.  I removed and turned off the automatic drip system we had installed 3 years ago.  We now enjoy a rock filled backyard.  The yard is shaded by one large tree, which requires little water.

    Hey Dustin,

We have xeriscaping in my backyard, as well. I think I am more aware both at home and at work, to not let water run, and choosing to do dishes and laundry when we have full loads so that we can get the most out of the water usage. We want to install a reverse osmosis system at our home, unfortunately, most RO systems waste hundreds of gallons each year. We found one that recycles the waste and has zero waste. It's just 3X as expensive, but definitely worth every penny that we save to buy it. Thanks for the post. Looking forward to hearing great tips and how others are conserving!

    Hi Dustin,

My husband and I just rocked our drive way and most of our yard,we replaced our plant life to cactus, and realined our water pressure in all faucets.toilets and washer. We also visited our neighbors giving them a new baby cactus and discussing the importance of conserving water and offered our help to achieve. It was alot of fun to speak to what we believe in as well as pushing rock and planting cactus with our neighbors.
