Fund raising idea

What if all the stores in the district(s) collected their used whipped cream chargers and we sold them for scrap metal to raise money? It wouldn't probably be much, but it would be something and keep the chargers out of landfills.
Jenni,
I just read a discussion about this and I was going to start it in our store. That would be fantastic
! They are so small and the colleection box would not take a lot of space. The only thing is, that someone would have to pick them up and take them to the collection place. They might get a little heavy, but if we do it the "smart" way, we should not have any problems with it. Would you like to lead a project? No money raised for a good cause is too small!!!! We are collecting coffee bags for 2 cents a piece and so far, we have raised about $20 for Relay. It seems not much, but we have many months to go (and even more bags to go). And also, it is not only about the money but about our environment, isn't it?
I'll be in your store sometimes soon, can't wait to discuss!
Anna
P.S. I am starting collecting them today! Thank you! ![]()
Anna,
Do we know where the old milk steaming pitchers are being recycled? If we get the entire area involved ( I'd be willing to do some pick ups) we could get some serious $$$$.
Tracy, as far as I remember from the Spring training information, we are supposed to hold on to them and they will be sent back to Seattle (or somewhere) to be recycled. Great idea, if it takes too long, we can definitely do this! As long as they get recycled.
I like our thinking path, let's keep the ideas coming!

I would be happy to. Should I email the district? I'm not sure where all the stores are, but I could definitely help with transport. I know Carroll County's landfill pays for scrap metal, does Montgomery County do something similar? I dont mind driving them to Westminster, but if there's something closer, that would enable more people to get involved. I can research if we're not sure. Also, LOVE the pitchers idea, Tracy :)
Jenni, you should start with leading the project! Relay ends in August, but we can keep collecting because we start again in October. Or you can continue fund raising for something else. Let me know if you need help with setting the project up (you will need the name and tax ID of the non-profit etc.)
Let's do this! I am in and so are my partners. ![]()

Anna, We talked today on the conference about recycling the old steaming pitchers at the scrap yard. An action item was sent out about how to recycle them. At the very bottom of the action item it states you can recycle locally. I am going to pick up the pitcher in Rockville tomorrow. A few stores will be dropping off to Dawn then as well. I will take them and the used whip chargers to the scrap yard. I will let you know how it goes. Hope you feel better! Tracy
Tracy, that is great! Thanks for doing that. Is Jenni going to start a project for that? Let's make sure that we have something thsat we could apply your hours to. If Jenni does not want to do that, I have a partner who wants to do the chargers and he would be willing to own the project. Please let me know and keep track of your hours please!
TOGETHER WE WILL FIND THE CURE!

Hi Anna,
I'm working on starting the project, but I don't know what to enter for email address.

Oh, I forgot.... I am not sure if Montgomery county pays for scrap metal but why would not they? I'll find out and let you know.
Anna
I was able to pick up 80# of metal today in pitchers!!!! The scrap yard pays .08 cents/pound. I will follow up with Jenni.
Anna,
Can the Bags be the 5 lbs bullets or is it just 1 lb?
I was sending those too, but it seems to me the they put me "on hold" because I keep sending the bags and no points show on my account. I am in the middle of corresponding with them about it. Also, I am at home with a bad flu
and I just check my computer very randomly (or not). I would focus on 1 lb bags at the moment.
I keep everyone posted.
