How many of you have every partner in your store committed to a community event in April?
Hey Joe!
I love this discussion!! I will say I have all my partners commited to a team walk in May and almost all of them going to the SF event next week! We are carpooling, caravaning and the works. It has been alot of fun to get the team involved, aware and open to helping the community around them.
Something I have done and encourage everyone to do is give each partner in the store 5-10 minutes with the laptop and have them create community profiles. That is something that I dedicated myself to this past week and it has been so great!
I challenge you! This way they can check back in on their own time, learn how to axcess the site with help and start feeling that ownership and pride and then lead their own projects!

Thank you Gina, that is awesome! What store do you work at?
Hi again!
I work in Rocklin, CA at the Hwy 80 and Rocklin Road store (Granite Drive). How about yourself? Do you have all your partners doing something this month as well? Again just having the site and our community involved makes April month of service all the more fun and exciting!!
Hey Gina, I am the RVP for the South part of the US so I have every partner committed to one event during the month and hopefully bringing a person with them. We are doing a big event in Houston this weekend with more than 500 partners.
Wow that is really great Joe! 500 partners! That is going to be huge! We have a really large event also on the 28th in San Francisco... there was talk that maybe Howard would be there too... (well that's what my DM told me!) Either way the excitement is there. What does the Houston event look like?
How long have you been with Starbucks and if you don't mind me asking any pointers for becoming an RVP someday. I will start small and go for DM first (I am currently a store manager) but if you have any insight I would love to have some outside tips! Thanks so much.
Hey Gina, we are rebuilding an entire community in South Houston so there are actually enought projects for 500 people.
I have been a partner for 6 years. I came over as an RD and have been an RVP for more than 4 years. Leadership is really about developing others and inspiring others. Leadership is also about balancing behaviors and results and being relentless about both- one without the other is not good enough. Also, declaring what it is that you want to do to others is important so that they can help in your development journey. You have to believe you can do the next job better than anyone else. I would also recommend developing a 90 day plan now of what you would do in a DM position. That way, no matter when it happens or the situation with the district, you will be better prepared to deal with new situations.I hope that helps. Talk to you soon.
Hey Joe.
Thanks for taking the time out to respond and give advice! I agree with leadership and "letting others know what I want". I have been sharing with each of my DM's since I promoted to manager that I wanted to be a DM! Haha, I have learned a lot from all of them tho and in their own way they have all taught me things I would want to do or not want to do. I have been given opportunities and chances to prove myself and I await the day I can take over! I love the idea of a 90 day plan and better preparing myself. I will get on that asap, you never know!
Hope the Huston event was huge and a great success- I look forward to hearing about it!
Gina
