Wearing Sbux gear while volunteering

As a Starbucks volunteer it's important to show your Starbucks pride while doing any community service.  On a few occasions I've had people come up to me and ask about my t-shirt which has led conversations about Starbucks and community involvement.  Other times I've noticed other partners wearing shirts and have been able to approach them in an effort to coordinate a make-your-mark grant.  Either way, it promotes Starbucks in a positive way and can also help secure additional benefits to the organization you are trying to help out.

    Hi Chad,

Totally agree!  A group of us have done trail work at Mt Rainier the past four summers.  It's amazing the number of hikers that stop to chat with us, ask where we're from, thank us for what we're doing, etc.  It's also fun to see reactions when they learn we're Team Starbucks!  We haven't had shirts in past years, but fingers are crossed for 2011!

Thanks you two for your notes about the shirts!

Our community investments team actually brought back the t-shrits when we launched this website in October!  The shirts are a fun green w/ the Starbucks logo and new Community Service logo.  We've heard from other partners that t-shirts are an important part of doing a team communtiy service project with your fellow Starbucks partners.  You receive t-shirts for your team project by registering your team project through this site and indicating you would like shirts. We recommend that you register two weeks prior to the event, so that the t-shirts arrive in plenty of time for your team.

Chad, I completely agree with you....I think there are several layers to this as well.  Many times I have volunteered for a project and have been slightly disappointed with the attire of partners present.  We should all try to show the organization we are supporting the respect that we would provide our working environments by assuming a "dress code" like approach.  Naturally dress code would not be appropriate for several projects, however ensuring that we are clean, neat and presentable is always a good idea!    We are representing a WORLD CLASS brand whenever we volunteer on behalf of Starbucks in our communities.

Our district is part of the Adopt-A-Highway program, and the past several quarterly cleanups we've done our district manager has provided t-shirts for the partners and customers who came to help out. Not only does it make us feel more like a team when we're volunteering, it makes our regulars who came out to help feel part of something special, and it gives us a new shirt to wear on T-shirt Friday.
