Leading a project without an organization.

Hi everyone!!
I am looking to lead a project WITHOUT a benefitting organization. For instance, we have a lot of community artwork on our walls and I would like to put an event on the calendar for a coffee tasting to support these artists. As this does not have an organization, I am unable to "lead" an event.
Is there a better way to do this or is this something that this site is not intended for?
Thank you so much!
Dan
I really do not know, Ive been trying to add a Beach Clean up project on this website for the past month and havent had any luck, they keep asking me to nominate a organization, I can do that but then they start asking for the Tax Id. It wont let me add a simple project. In other words , theres a road block allowing me to create a project. Ive contacted the ADMIN of this website and can you beleive its been almost a month and havent heard from them yet. Its ridiculous in a sort of way.
Hi Daniel and Adrian...thanks for your posts.
In order to post a project to the site, it must be a true community service opportunity organized in conjunction with a qualified non-profit organization. For your event, Daniel, I'd suggest posting information about any upcoming artist-focused coffee tastings as a discussion on the Share page.
And Adrian, apologies for missing your original request for help. The database against which potential organizations is matched is massive, but not 100% comprehensive. As such, sometimes an organization needs to be nominated for inclusion. This process requires minimal effort from the partner side with the onus on the non-profit. I don't think it's required that you include the tax ID number to nominate an organization...please try again leaving that field blank.
If either of you need anything further, please give a shout.
thanks,
Anna
Thank you Anna for replying to my message. The Tax Id is (required) for me to nominate the business. It will not allow me to move forward without the tax id. Fortunately I spoke with Adopt A Beach from Cameron County Park Department in South Padre Island,Tx. They were nice enough to allow me to enter thier tax id. Now Im wondering, how long am I going to have to wait till I can search for them on this website so I may start my project? The project is coming soon and I would like it posted so the community can see as soon as possible. The more people I get the better. So My question now is when do I get to start the project?:
Anna - Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate the quick feedback. Adrian, your event sounds inspiring -- I hope you are able to post pictures after the event!
Daniel.
I had Adopt A Beach nominate thier organization yesterday. I was wondering when it will come up so that I can select it and post it up. Below is the name of organization.
Adopt A Beach
Cameron County Parks Department
South Padre Island,Texas.
I would like to know how long I have to wait till it posts. My DM is really pushing me on this to be posted.
I would appreciate a reply when you can,. Thank you
Adrian
Hi Adrian -
The nomination process can take as little as two weeks. The bulk of the work is on the organization's shoulders so the timing is really dependent upon their ability to quickly turn around the necessary information.
thanks,
Anna
Anna, this is Brian Case. Adrian has not recived any insight on his project submission. Can you share with both of us where we are at with the process?
Thanks
