We collected 163 lbs of dry pet food and 125 cans of wet pet food as of April 13th, 2012. Me and my sons, Nico and Griffin delivered the food to the Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston. We met Kent who gave us info and helped off load our donation. Kent let us know that Meals on Wheels serves 4500 seniors in the Greater Houston area. Of those, 1000 own pets. At the time they were almost out of pet food. Our delivery was a much needed boost to their stock but NO WHERE near enough. We have 5 Starbucks stores in the Sugar Land collecting pet food.
We collected more pet food for our aniMeals on Wheels pet drive on Friday April 27. We collected 110 pounds of dry food and 75 cans of wet food for both cats and dogs. Six stores in our district were able to collect and contribute. Me and my 2 sons, Nico & Griffin, then went on a delivery route for 6 seniors. They were all very appreciative and thankful. It was a very rewarding experience for all of us.
Our latest contribution amounted to 188.5 pounds of dry food, 27 cans of wet food, pet snack and toys. The WHOLE family was able to go this time. Debbie, my wife and Marissa, my eldest joined me and the boys this time. We delivered the pet food on May 19th. That was also our scheduled delivery day. We were able to help bag pet food for other volunteers that were delivering that day as well. We then delivered to all the seniors on OUR route. The route is now ours and is listed under Dan Gallardo and family at Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston. We met with all the seniors and we were able to connect and get to know them a little better this time. We will see them again next month!!! ![]()
